The year mentioned in this car’s name might not be proof of that, but this here build is brand new, sort of. Indeed, it was manufactured decades ago, and true, it spent years hidden in an Idaho garage, but what you see in the gallery below is a restoration process that just ended in 2019.
The people who worked on it tried to keep as close to the original car as possible, and despite going the nut and bolt way during the restoration process, much of the original car has been saved, down to the sheet metal - not the minor hardware though, such as wipers, mirrors, front grille, and so on, which had to be replaced.

What came out at the end of the build is a Camaro Z28 with a flat hood and rear spoiler, wrapped in a color similar to the original Dark Brown it had when it rolled off assembly lines in Norwood, Ohio. We say similar because in fact this is a Toyota color called Smoked Mesquite Brown, one the Japanese usually deploy on the Tundra.

Because of the body's color, the car has been nicknamed The Root Beer Float.

The inside, which originally came in vinyl, has been restored to the original color as well, only this time there’s weave wrapping the inside.

As for what powers the Z28, we’re talking about a Chevrolet 383 Stroker V8 engine that, coupled to a 4-speed transmission, cranks out in excess of 400 hp.

This particular Camaro is currently listed as for sale on the Classic Cars website, with a price that goes well above what people usually ask for this type of car: $58,900.

But for that amount the buyer will get a ‘73 Z28 that is among the best looking we’ve seen in a while, and one that has everything in working order, from the dome lights to the sound system.

As a side note, there are no spare tire or jack tools, but that should be irrelevant for true enthusiasts.
