Chevrolet didn't introduce many significant changes on the '72 Vette, but sales were already going through the roof, so the new release recorded impressive market success.
Total sales for the 1972 model year surpassed 27,000 units, with the coupe dominating production with approximately 76% of the entire output. The convertible was much rarer, with only 6,508 units using this body style.

One of these few convertibles landed on eBay earlier this week, and seller dmcu says the car was pulled from a "garage full of cars."

This can mean two things. First, the Corvette was part of a private collection, meaning whoever owned it in the past properly cared for the car. Second, it was stored in the right conditions, as a garage full of vehicles can't allow high humidity levels or lack a concrete floor.

The owner says this Corvette convertible was in the process of being restored, so the vehicle now wears a fresh coat of paint. The frame is clean, and the engine bay looks good.

The biggest problem is the long list of missing parts. While the car was abandoned mid-restoration, this Corvette isn't even close to being complete, as it lacks essential parts, including the convertible top, the antenna, the front market lights, the seats, the door panels, and the rear bumper brackets. The owner has shared a detailed list of the missing parts, so if you're interested in the Vette, I advise you to check out all the information on eBay.

Unfortunately, the list of missing items also includes the engine and the transmission. The owner didn't share more specifics to let us know what engine was originally under the hood, but the lack of a mill isn't necessarily a reason to walk away. If you plan to restore a Corvette, you can use a more powerful engine, so if you already have a powerful mill that can fit this convertible, the project is worth checking out.

The VIN (1Z67K2S504707) decodes to a 1972 Corvette convertible born with the base engine (code K) under the hood. It was assembled at the St. Louis plant alongside all the other Vettes.

The convertible has already caught the attention of many Corvette fanboys online, so the digital battle is fierce. The auction received 14 bids in only a few hours on eBay, but the top offer couldn't unlock the reserve. The top bid today is $8,400, and anyone who wants to secure this Corvette and get it without a fight must trigger the Buy It Now price set at $15,000.

Meanwhile, this convertible is still sleeping in Copiague, New York, and considering the solid interest in it, I believe it's a matter of time until the reserve is triggered. The auction will end in six days.
