The Chevrolet Chevelle SS is one of the most sought after muscle cars to this day, decades after it was introduced. And it is also a favorite of the custom industry, which for years has been modifying and bettering the Chevelles of old.
Plenty of them have been made in the 13 years of production to allow the nameplate to live on to this day in large numbers. Most of the Chevelles currently on the open market have had some modifications made to them, and at times it is impossible to track down who did what.
But just like in the case of the SS featured in the gallery above, the end result is sometimes more important than those details. And in this particular case, the result is stunning.
The car is from the 1969 model year, the version that at one point in history was known as one of America’s most popular mid-sized cars. Sporting all the design changes that came with the second generation, it is one of the best examples of restored Chevelles currently on the open market.
Sporting a blue-painted body over a black interior, the car underwent a frame on restoration about a decade ago at the hands of an unknown shop. But whoever the guys who worked on it were, they sure nailed it, especially with the choice of wheels and tires.
Sized 15 inches and wrapped in raised wall tires, they match the muscle car message the build is trying to send perhaps more than anything else.
What’s under the hood is not disappointing either. Once lifted, it reveals a 396ci (6.5-liters) big block rated at 325 hp and linked to an automatic transmission.
This particular Chevelle is for sale, and if you can get passed all of the unknowns that surround it, the asking price is $46,900.
