Most people who ordered a GTO in 1967 picked the hardtop, which accounted for over 65,000 units of the total 81,722 production output.
The convertible was the second most popular choice, with 9,517 units, while the coupe, also the cheapest, made its way to only 7,029 customers.

The base coupe, distinguished by code 07 in the VIN (after the 242 – which indicated a GTO), carried a price tag of $2,871. The hardtop was more expensive at $2,935, while the convertible (code 67) surpassed the $3,000 milestone with a $3,165 price tag.

This 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible (VIN 242677B102986) recently emerged from storage in a condition you can all admire in the photos in the gallery.

While I won't provide any spoilers and ruin the fun of browsing the images, I'll tell you that this GTO wears the factory paint, still in a good shape but definitely not in tip-top condition. You'll also discover signs of rust, so you should put the car on a lift and thoroughly inspect the undersides.

Meanwhile, let me share more specifics about the GTO's tenure off the road.

The people at Desirable Autos and Classics, the garage in charge of finding a new home for this otherwise intriguing GTO, explain that the car was parked in storage in the mid-'80s. It hasn't moved since then, with the sticker showing the vehicle was last registered in 1985.

It's unclear where it was found and whether it was stored away from high humidity levels, but considering it's been sitting for over three decades and the metal still looks good, it's safe to assume it's been sleeping on a concrete floor.

The GTO is fitted with a 400 four-barrel V8 that starts and runs. The car can only brake with the emergency brakes, so you shouldn't consider it road-worthy. It also works with an alternative gas source, and the next buyer will have to clean the gas tank or install a new one to get the car up and running without a gas bottle.

The engine is believed to be original, albeit the owner says they have no proof, while the power top comes with a non-working switch.

The GTO landed on eBay with a no-reserve auction, meaning that the highest bidder will take it home, no questions asked. Unsurprisingly, the car has already received much attention, with 27 bids received in only a few hours online. The top offer approaches the $14,000 milestone, but considering the fierce battle, the price will likely increase in the remaining five days.

Meanwhile, you can find the GTO in Springtown, Texas, and you are strongly recommended to inspect the car personally or order a third-party inspection before committing to a purchase. It's not road-worthy, so you'll need a trailer to take it home.
