If you're the kind who enjoys betting, races such as the GT-R family brawl in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page will give you a hard time.
Given the serious difference that shows up when these two GT-Rs are placed on the scales and their similar outputs, one might be tempted to easily bet on the "grandpa". Before we move any further though, we have to explain this is a standing start battle, one that unfortunately took place on the street, over in Australia.

Well, first of all, when talking heavily tuned machines such as the ones we have here, you can put the same amount of trust into the hp numbers as in the case of stock machines and we're not even talking about insincere drivers here.

For one thing, the R35 Godzilla has two aces up its sleeve - Nissan engineers explained how they optimized the power-to-weight-to-tire-contact-patch part of the car to deliver the kind of blistering launches this Nissan has accustomed us with.

Sure, all GT-R delivering stunning take-offs, but the current-gen model has the electronics on its side to manage all the extra power. But does this really help?

Well, at least in the case of the battle below, the answer is negative. You see, the R35 got the lead, probably thanks to a late start on the R32's side, but the car lost traction when going from first to second, which allowed the old-school JDM contraption to grab the lead and hold on to it. Sure, the R32 had its fair share of wheelspin, but in the end, it didn't matter.

And since the video below mixes footage captured from a third vehicle with scenes from inside both vehicles, it's easy to notice just how different the two hooning experiences are.

Would the result have been similar had the R32 driver displayed a better reaction time? Guess we're entering the land of bets once again.
