A good chunk of the supercar enthusiast crowd was concerned that the successor to the Aventador would be soft when they heard Lamborghini was planning to launch it with plug-in hybrid power. But they were wrong, as the Revuelto boasts just enough craziness to qualify as something worthy of wearing the Raging Bull's logo.
Unveiled in the first month of spring in the northern hemisphere, the Lamborghini Revuelto stays true to its roots by featuring not only a wedge-shaped design, albeit adapted to the new era but also a V12 engine behind the seats.

It is a naturally aspirated unit with a 6.5-liter displacement that makes it worthy of calling itself a successor to the Aventador and Murcielago, as well as the Diablo, Countach, and Miura. Capable of being revved up to 9,500 rpm, it develops an impressive 813 hp (825 ps/607 kW) and 725 Nm (535 lb-ft) of torque.

The remaining output that contributes to the grand total of 1,001 hp (1,015 ps/747 kW) comes from the three electric motors, with one driving the front axle, and the other two sending power to the rear wheels. A 3.8 kWh battery pack feeds them with the required juice that allows the Revuelto to drive on zero emissions for a few miles.

For a machine that has a dry weight of 3,907 pounds (1,772 kg), Lambo's new flagship supercar is very fast. The spec sheet reveals the naught to sixty-two mph (0 to 100 kph) acceleration takes 2.5 seconds, one-tenth slower than the mighty Bugatti Chiron. The top speed slightly exceeds 217 mph (350 kph).

As anyone could've easily guessed, the Lamborghini Revuelto is a proper track tool. Several videos showing it unleashed between the apexes have graced the World Wide Web, and we just stumbled upon the one embedded below. At almost three minutes long, it shows the plug-in hybrid supercar doing its thing at Nardo and chasing after another Lambo that an instructor probably drove.

There is no timer here, and the Revuelto didn't get close enough to the vehicle in front to overtake it, so we are likely looking at one of the first hands-on events that allowed a select few to get up close and personal with the Sant'Agata Bolognese firm's new toy for the rich. And you certainly have to be loaded to afford it.

Depending on whom you ask, the Revuelto starts north of the half-a-million-dollar mark. Some outlets say it actually exceeds $600,000, and that's before factoring in those greedy dealer fees and the options that a potential buyer might be tempted to tick on the list. But it sure is worth it for those who can afford it. And you know what they say about only living once, don't you?
