The 2007 MY MV Augusta F4 1000 R sports a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 998cc, transverse four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce 174 horsepower and 111 Nm of torque, which make it the most powerful production motorcycle from the House of Schiranna up to date. It is basically a more performance-oriented version of the F4 1000 S, but a less high-tech version of the exclusive F4 Senna.

Features that set it apart are the Brembo braking system with 320 mm front disc brakes and radial caliper struts, the Marzocchi upside down fork with the RAC technology, the Y-spoked, forged aluminium Brembo wheels, the rear mudguard and the revides Magneti Marelli injection system, which seriously shorten lap times when on the track, and overall maneuverability if one is on the road.
