MOTO GUZZI Galleto 160 (1950-1966) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Moto Guzzi Galleto was a scooter manufactured by Moto Guzzi from 1950 until 1966. The large-wheel scooter was similar to other models, such as the Aermacchi 125N-U-Zeffiro, Palmieri & Gulinelli Guizzo, and Ducati Cruiser 175.

The Galleto started its life as a project of Carlo Guzzi, the company's founder, who decided to combine the advantages of a high-wheel motorcycle with the benefits of a scooter, eliminating the drawbacks of both models.

The finished product offered protection to the rider was easy to handle and featured a spare wheel mounted between the front wheel and the front part of the body. The spare wheel was considered an accessory to be bought separately.

In 1952, at the Milan Motor Show, the Italian maker presented an updated version of the Galleto, with a larger 175cc engine and a four-speed transmission that featured an emergency function in case of battery failure.

In the visual department, the 1950 scooter had features such as a large fender on the front, large floorboards for both rider and passenger, a sprung rider seat, a separate seat for the pillion, a center stand, and wire-spoke wheels.

In the performance department, the 1950 Moto Guzzi Galleto 160 had its soul brought to life by a 159cc two-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivered an output power of 6 hp with a peak force at 5,200 rpm.
