KTM 950 Adventure S (2003-2006) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2006, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer launched the KTM 950 Adventure S, a sporty version of the standard KTM Adventure with several differences, including more extended suspension travel and a higher seat.

The KTM 950 Adventure was a dual-sports machine built by KTM between 2003 and 2006. The bike was also known as the KTM LC8 Adventure and was produced until 2006 when it was replaced by the KTM 990 Adventure.

Besides its differences, the Adventure S model was similar to the standard model, packing standard features, such as wire-spoke wheels, a high-mounted exhaust system, a small luggage rack, a one-piece dual seat with passenger grab rails, a half fairing with a single headlight unit, and a small windscreen.

The powder-coated chromium-molybdenum tubular space frame was coupled to a 48 mm WP inverted telescopic fork on the front with 265 mm of travel and a WP spring-preload shock absorber on the rear with 260 mm of travel, acting as suspension.

As for the braking power, the bike packed two 300 mm discs on the front wheel coupled to dual-piston calipers and a 240 mm disc on the rear, engaged by a two-piston caliper, offering optimum stopping power.

In the performance department, the 2006 KTM 950 Adventure S had its heartbeat set by a 942cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine that delivered 98 hp with a peak force at 8,000 rpm and 95 Nm (70 lb-ft torque at 6,500 rpm.
