Tesla skipped the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, but showed up at the Geneva Motor Show. Obviously, they brought along the Model X, which celebrates its European premiere at the Swiss event.
As most carmakers do, Tesla put the flagship version of the Model X in its Geneva stand. The top of the line version of the Model X is called P90D and features the internet-famous “Ludicrous Mode.”
Naturally, an electric SUV draws considerable attention, and the blue exhibit in Tesla’s stand was no exception. Some of the visitors were there just because the car is a Tesla, but we cannot deny the company made a cool car that happens to be good for the environment.
Tesla’s presence in Geneva is no coincidence, as the Swiss market is essential for the American company. And since the Model X is an SUV and has all-wheel-drive, along with a raised ground clearance when compared to the Model S, the carmaker should have its fair share of Swiss customers. Considering that, it was only natural to bring their brand new SUV to the Geneva Motor Show.
Avid Tesla fans and customers had the chance to place an order for the Model X Signature one day before the Geneva Motor Show opened its doors to the press. However, the launch of preorders for the special edition Model X was quiet, so only those who were in contact with Tesla got the chance to sign up. Fortunately, the Model X Signature is not sold out yet, so you still have the possibility to reserve yours if you can afford it.
The Tesla Model X sold in Europe is identical to the one made for American customers. That means that Europeans will be able to enjoy those Falcon doors and Ludicrous mode just like the Americans do.
Furthermore, Europeans will also benefit from tax deductions, EV incentives, and other benefits applied to the customers of electric vehicles in their countries. Nonetheless, I assume Tesla Model X customers are not into this brand for the tax benefits, but for the idea of an innovative electric vehicle.
