In recent months, the electric vehicle world's sweetheart brand has been hard on the offensive with supplementing the Supercharger network, partnering up with Panasonic for making the Gigafactory project happen, developing the soon to be launched Model X crossover and the Model III sedan.
So many things happening at the same moment might be challenging for a young manufacturer such as Tesla Motors, but the company's ambitions go even further. A recently published report cites insider info according to which four new models are to be launched by the year 2018. Two of them are no longer a secret: the Model X, with its cool Falcon doors and two electric motors, as well as the $35,000 Model III compact sedan, expected to rocket Tesla's yearly sales to 100,000 units by 2016.

So what about the other two, dubbed the Model R and Model C? German motoring publication AutoBild quotes several Tesla insiders that dropped details about the two. The Model R is virtually a replacement of the Tesla Roadster. Expected to break cover sometime in 2017, the future model will adopt third-generation platform and drivetrain designs, promising a better overall package than the Roadster.

The other mysterious model slated to debut by 2018 is called the Model C. More eagled eyed car aficionados might've guessed by now that the C in its name is short for City, or so declared an unidentified Tesla insider to the previously mentioned publication. Aside from its urban runaround purpose, the only details currently known about the Tesla Model C are the following: the entry-level variant will cost "less than €15,000" ($20,090) and will have a range of 150 kilometers (93 miles).
