The French automaker Renault, has recently released images of a new supermini EV concept, believed to be a twin brother for the rear-drive hatch concept that will be revealed next month.
It is called the Twin-Z and like its supposed brother TwinRun (or Fun) concept that we showed you earlier, it will also be rear-wheel-driven. Only that it won’t be equipped with a high-revving small petrol engine, but an electric motor instead.
At only 3,623 mm long, the Twin-Z will be a lightweight five-door supermini, said to weight only 980 kg. And it has to be that way, as the electric motor fitted to it can only produce 67 bhp and 226 Nm (167 lb-ft) of torque, giving the car an 81 km/h (50 mph) top speed.
The car has also a sophisticated suspension system, electric powered suicide doors, lightweight seats with fire-retardant material and more tiny LEDs than a Christmass tree.
Designed with the help of British designer Ross Lovegrove, the Twin-Z’s shocking appearance is pure conceptual for now. Somehow, it is expected that it’s design cues might influence the next Twingo.
