Opel recently rolled out a few new photos showing the interior of the upcoming Astra model. As you can see for yourselves, the new Astra boasts a lot of new things inside the car, when compared with the previous model, including a new instrument panel, upgraded materials and redesigned center console. There will be two new interior color and trim combinations, Spice Red and Ocean Blue, especially designed for the 2010 Opel Astra.

“The design of the new Astra takes all the best Opel has to offer and delivers it to the compact class,” says Mark Adams, Vice President of Design for GM Europe. “We have built a five-door hatchback that is as beautiful as it is safe, comfortable and practical.”

As for the engines, the European version of the car will rely on both gasoline and diesel units, with the entry-level equipped with a 1.4-liter naturally-aspirated powerplant. A 1.6-liter Turbo configuration generation 180 horsepower is also available. Fuel consumption is one of the main attributes of the refreshed Astra range, with the 1.4-liter unit capable of achieving a saving of up to 8 percent compared to the naturally-aspirated 1.6 unit offered on the current-generation Astra.

Diesels are also included in the range, with the 1.3-, 1.7- and 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplants developing a maximum output of 95 to 160 horsepower. Furthermore, it is also believed that Opel will launch an ecoFLEX configuration a few months after the official launch of the model.

The five-door configuration will be soon joined by a three-door version, while and OPC flavor is expected to go on sale in the early months of 2011.
