DriveMeCrazy App, Road Avengers' Tool of Choice

How many times has one driver or another managed to annoy you in such a degree that you felt like getting out of the car and smashing his head on the steering wheel? Or call the cops and stay around to watch them bash the guy's head on the dashboard? Or driving your car right into his?

Well, you can put all that behind you now because, perhaps for the first time, you have the perfect tool to strike back at those who break the rules and get away with it: the DriveMeCrazy smartphone app.

Developed by Shazam, the app allows the owner of a smartphone to either report a driver for bad behavior or commend another for the decent, civilized way of driving. One you have reported the culprit driver, he or she will receive a ticket.

For example, if someone runs a red light, you can flag his car (date, time, location and license plate number). The car is then identified in a database and a ticket is being sent to the respective driver. Unfortunately, for now, these tickets are virtual and have no effect whatsoever.

The founder of Shazam hopes that in the near future, DriveMeCrazy will be implemented in a type of pilot project by the US Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and insurance companies, with the goal of turning any one of us into traffic cops.

Now, the idea is pretty interesting, as far as we can tell, but we find it to be impossible to implement, only if we take into account the fact that people are, by nature, liars, and abuse would be impossible to contain. Shazam says it is possible on the other hand, and only the thought of being watched all time by a traffic partner will prevent a driver from breaking a traffic law.
