BMW thinks the X2 is some sort of lifestyle SUV, but once you cut an inch from the suspension, you end up with something Golf-sized and Golf-shaped.
Is nobody crazy enough to do that? Think again, as a German company by the name of Maxklusiv Carworks put together this nifty-looking project.
This X2 caught our attention because not because of its chrome wrap but due to its mbDESIGN wheels. They have some of the best retro-style alloys for VW Group custom cars in Europe, especially the LV1... that thing works with everything.
The design we're dealing with here is called the KX1, and it's been sized at 8.5x20-inch for all four corners of the BMW X2. In some of these photos, you might also notice the 9x21-inch ET45 alloy that's been optionally coated in "black smoke" to match the color of the film wrap.
The 235/30Z R21 tires are eaten up by the bodywork thanks to G-Ride air suspension, which had to be completely redesigned to fit the X2. Something seemed a little familiar until we remembered this GLS-Class prototype which had exotic alloys at the beginning of the year. Who's copying who here?
The dark chrome foil is combined with a black roof, black kidneys, and lower grille, as well as small X2 logos between the taillights. Carbon exhaust tips from Maxklusiv suggest something has happened to the engine.
We have no way of knowing what kind of engine is under the hood, but the M Sport X package is often combined with the xDrive20d by European customers. That means just 190 HP from a 2-liter diesel, compared to the 230-ish horsepower the American model gets as standard.
Considering this X2 is sitting in a German BMW showroom, the point of these mods is probably to be reversible while still grabbing attention. The job is done if you ask us!
