During a recent interview, GM boss Mark Reuss said that America needs a wagon, since the big three have basically forgotten about sedans with bigger boots. But Ford, GM and Chrysler aren't the only American automakers in America. In fact, I'd argue that Toyota is more American than Chrysler right now.
They make a whole bunch of SUVs and pickups just for North America and the Camry and Lexus ES are locally assembled. So what if Lexus, for example, made the American wagon?
This rendering shows a logical but unlikely ES model with a bigger boot. "SportCross" is the name Lexus used for the IS wagon. However, the ES would make a much better family car than the IS, since the RWD transfer case would either compromise the boot floor or spare wheel.
