Back in February, the U.S automotive performance was rocked, as Horchaus, the official Canadian distributor of the MTM VW tuner, announced that it would import the European Audi RS model (these cars are not officially brought to the country).
The good news was that car enthusiasts in North America were supposed to receive RS6 Avants and Sedans, as well as previous generation RS4 Avants.
However, the company has recently announced that it has failed to get all the necessary “green lights” for the project, as worldcarfans reports.
“We did not manage to work our way through the regulatory commissions to ensure that the cars indeed meet all North American regulations," Horchaus says on its website.
The company added that “We had a strategy that we thought was appealing in importing pre-owned vehicles to a very competitive price but we could not finalize the legalization of these vehicles here without the appropriate collaborators.”
The last few words got us wondering what could’ve happened, since Horchaus had reportedly reached an official agreement with Audi AG on the matter. This even included the shipping of the vehicles with full producer warranty.
Meanwhile, Audi has announced that it is ending the production of the RS6 model. It just seems like the “RS6 in the U.S.A” story was never meant to be. This means that doing this in America is incredibly difficult, if not impossible.
However, the German Automotive producer did offer its U.S. performance customers a positive piece of news, announcing that it will bring the RS5 model to the country, starting from 2012.
