Audi Confirms RS5 for U.S. and Releases 2011 R8 V10 Spyder Pricing

Are you an American in the market for a hyperpowered German Coupe that screams “status” while delivering top performance? Or maybe you’d rather have Iron Man’s V10 convertible...

Well, if the answer to any of these two questions is “yes”, Audi has news for you. The German automotive producer has confirmed that it will bring the RS5 to the U.S. market. The good part? Americans get the same high-revving 4.2 liter V8 delivering 450 hp. The bad one? You’ll have to wait until 2012 to get one (unless you’re Tony Stark and you can build your own RS5).

However, if you’re in a hurry, you can get the V10 version of the R8 Spyder, which will hit showroom floors next month. Let’s see what this move would mean for your bank account. Audi announced that the 525 hp topless vehicle can be yours starting from $161,000(the price doesn't include the $1,250 destination charge). If you want to ditch the standard manual for the six-speed R-tronic, be prepared to spend an additional $9,000.

For the money, you’ll get a convertible that is able to take you past the 62 mph mark in 4 seconds and keep on playing until the speedo reaches 195 mph (314 km/h).

Like all Audi R8 models, the R8 Spyder 5.2 quattro reflects the Audi commitment to lightweight construction for better handling and efficiency. The hallmark of the R8 Spyder is the industry-leading aluminum Audi Space Frame technology used for most of the body. The rear quarter-panel fenders and customized engine hood are made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers,” stated the press release.
