Audi RS Cars Coming to America via MTM Distributor Horchaus [Updated]

Automotive enthusiasts in North America have been crying for the complete Audi RS line-up, but the company’s U.S. and Canadian arms have been adamant, as the companies consider that the demand for these cars is not enough to justify the effort.

All this is about to change, as Horchaus, MTM’s (dedicated Volkswagen Group tuner) official Canadian distributor has begun importing Audi RS6 avants and sedans, R8s and previous generation (the current one hasn’t been released yet) RS4 avants to North America, as Iedei reports.

Horchaus has signed an agreement with the Audi mother company in Germany which stipulates that the carmaker itself will bring the cars to U.S. specifications, ensuring that they are street-legal. Consequently, the cars will be shipped to the U.S. and Canada with original warranties included.

According to the distributor, an Audi RS6 Avant coming through this pathway can be yours for $118,000. That is a 32 percent discount compared to the car’s price on the German market. Add $9,000 something to that and you’ll get MTM’s tuning package for the car. That brings the 5.0 liter twin turbocharged V10 engine form its stock supercar-matching 571 HP and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) form to an hypercar-rivaling 735 HP and 785 Nm (579 lb-ft).

A small number of cars have already been imported and some of them are now in their owners' hands. And the power storm has just started, as Horchaus is also considering importing the 265 HP S3 hot hatch and the 340 HP TT RS coupe.

For some automotive dreams scouting, you can browse Horchaus' website yourself.

Update (05.08.2010): Horchaus announced that it has failed to finalise the deal and therefore will not import Audi RS cars in North America.
