In 2009, alongside the base model, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 NTX ABS, a dual-purpose machine with a little extra piece of mind in the form of ABS.

Compared to the standard model, the NTX ABS version featured updated brakes that offered more peace of mind on slippery surfaces by reducing the stopping distance and being more manageable in corners.

Besides the ABS safety feature, the NTX featured several touring-oriented features not found on the regular model, such as hand guards, oil sump guard, aluminum panniers (without a top box), a larger windscreen, and wire-spoke wheels. Other than that, it was similar to the base model.

At its core, the 2009 Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 NTX ABS had installed a 1,151cc four-stroke air-cooled V-twin engine managed by an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, boasting 105 hp at 7,500 rpm and 108 Nm (80 lb-ft) torque at 6,400 rpm.

The bike rolled on a 19-inch front wheel with two 320 mm discs and four-piston calipers and a 17-inch wheel on the rear coupled to a 282 mm disc and a dual-piston caliper, delivering excellent stopping power.

Suspension-wise, the bike packed a 50 mm fully adjustable fork on the front and a single-sided swingarm tied to an adjustable shock, providing excellent suspension performance and handling.
