Zero Awarded Best Electric Motorcycle at eCarTec 2009

It has been a successful year for Zero Motorcycle, as the American manufacturer managed to expand to Europe, Asia, qualify for the federal tax credit, start a new fleet sales program and the first fully integrated peer-to-peer lending retail financing solution. The latest achievement, however, is it has been awarded "Best Electric Motorcycle" at the first international fair for electric mobility, eCarTec 2009 held in Munich, Germany.

"Zero Motorcycles is thrilled to receive such an admirable award in the presence of so many innovative and environmentally friendly companies from around the world,"
says Edwin Belonje, Director of European Sales and Marketing, Zero Motorcycles, in a statement for the press.

"Our focus on engineering electric motorcycles from the ground up allowed us to win this award and we will continue to drive this technology in years to come,"
added Belonje.

All three models (Zero S, Zero X and Zero MX) run on a Z-Force technology power pack consisting of high performance, light weight lithium ion cells. The Zero X was designed for technical trail riding, while the MX is destined for track riding and jumps. However, the Zero S (Supermoto), which uses a lithium ion array and is mainly built out of fully recyclable materials, is the one that highlights the range.

The California-based company not only impressed Europe with its environmentally friendly motorbikes, but it had also made a good impression in its home-state. At the AltCar expo held in southern California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger himself stopped and showed a special interest in the company and its zero emissions transportation alternatives to conventional gas motorcycles.
