First Electric Off-Road Win for Zero Motorcycles

Electric motorcycle industry seems to be enjoying a great deal of success thanks to the combination of performances similar to that of conventional motorbikes with zero emissions characteristics. Zero Motorcycles, probably the best-known brand in the industry, not only came to Europe in June, but also announced global expansion earlier this month.

Recently, the company’s off-road product, Zero MX, won the Electric Motorcycle Challenge in France. According to the company, over 250 riders competed in the race, with one Zero MX and four other electric motorcycles participating.

Riding for Zero Motorcycles was Thomas Aubry, who not only that beat the other competitors in the electric motorcycle challenge, but went on and took the first place against riders on gas motorcycles.

"This was quite an event! We didn't even know about it until two weeks prior so we really pushed to get our team in order and race ready. This was our first appearance in a European competition like this and the Zero MX out-performed all other bikes in our category,"
says Edwin Belonje, Director of European Sales & Marketing, Zero Motorcycles. "We are excited to capture this win and are looking forward to taking on even more competitors as the development of electric motorcycles continues to evolve."

The Zero MX is destined for track riding and jumps, using a high-performance suspension system. The electric bike features a newly developed custom rear shock and with an aggressive 19-inch front wheel and tire package. It is lightweight, low-maintenance and silent, therefore eliminating the loud noise associated with a traditional gas dirt bike.
