Schwarzenegger Meets the Zero S Electric Motorcycle

Electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero Motorcycle announced that it has received a very important visit during the AltCar expo in southern California these days. The man who stopped and made time to check out the company’s street legal Zero S motorcycle was none other than Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Apparently, the Governor took a special interest in the company, as Zero Motorcycles not only generates jobs in the state but also received a great deal of attention for offering a practical and environmentally friendly transportation alternative.

"We are honored that Governor Schwarzenegger took the time to learn about the innovative engineering and environmentally-friendly performance of our motorcycles,"
said John Lloyd, VP of Worldwide Sales for Zero Motorcycles, in a statement for the press. "Zero Motorcycles offers solutions for two of the state's major initiatives. We are boosting the economy and reducing emissions."

Developed for urban environments, the Zero S weighs only 225 lb. (102 kg) and provides a range of up to 60 miles (100 km) and a top speed of 60 mph (100 km/h). The motor generates 31 horsepower and 62.5 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Zero S uses a lithium ion array and it is mainly built out of fully recyclable materials. The landfill approved power pack recharges in less than four hours while plugged into a standard 110V or 220V outlet.

Recently, Zero Motorcycles partnered with Prosper to offer the first fully integrated peer-to-peer lending retail financing solution in the US.

Furthermore, aside from this new consumer financing solution, customers are also eligible for a Federal tax credit of 10 percent off the purchase price. This will not only reduce the price to $8,955, but will also get monthly payments as low as $290 a month with a down payment of $1,000.
