Folks, hopefully, you brought your best tux for this event. Today, we have something more akin to a fine dining experience, but with a roaring V6 instead of a judgy waiter who raises his eyebrow when you ask about the prices. Two of the most exciting cars from their sector, the Genesis G70 and Mercedes AMG C 43, are duking it out in the outskirts of the suburbian Canadian wilderness, otherwise known as a quarter-mile drag strip.
Before we go right ahead and "order the main course," let's first check out each menu and also how much the tab will run you for. Starting with the ever-popular Genesis G70 3.3T from 2022, this baby is 61,000 Canadian dollars or, if you're on American soil, it's $52,000.

It looks gorgeously high class, fit for its pricing, and comes equipped with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that can produce 365 hp (370 ps) with 376 lb-ft (510 Nm) of torque. It drives all four of its wheels and has an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

This Genesis G70 model should go from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, but as always, it depends on the type of tires it is equipped with and, of course, the driver's skills.

On the opposite side of the dining table, we have the 2023 Mercedes AMG C 43 sedan, which also looks very elegant. Spec-wise, it's a bit different than the Genesis G70.

The engine is much smaller, at just 2.0 liters. The inline-four is turbocharged and can deliver 402 hp (407 ps) with 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. The spec sheet says it should get to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

It also has an all-wheel-drive system and a 9-speed gearbox. This model is 82k in Canada and costs $61,000 in the US. Driving the AMG is Sam from the Sam CarLegion YouTube channel, who organized this entire thing.

Now it's time to see what these babies can do when you put them to the test.

During the first drag race, the Mercedes flew off the starting line like a bat out of Hell and left the Genesis in the rearview mirror. The latter had no chance, and the C 43 won by a mile. Unfortunately for the Genesis G70, it wasn't any different during the second attempt. The Mercedes was so fast, it wasn't even close.

The Mercedes' fastest time from 0-60 was 4.5 seconds, even faster than on paper, while it did 12.5 seconds for the quarter-mile. The G70 was 0.1 seconds slower than on paper, clocking in 4.6 seconds for the 0-60 section. It finished the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds.

Also, unsurprisingly, the AMG C 43 demolished the Genesis during two other roll races. Today, the Mercedes was simply unbeatable.
