It is finally happening. You can now reserve a Ford Mustang GTD, and there is one way to do it. Ford opened a special website for the model which is the most powerful street-legal Mustang that the automaker has ever built. However, you will have to be selected to be able to pay a fortune for the muscle car.
The Ford Mustang GTD is not just any Ford. You can't walk into a showroom, pick up a GTD, and drive home with it. You have to have Ford's approval for it. There is no information about the carmaker's selection criteria, but people have taken to forums to submit their guesses.

Some say that it will be for those who already own several Mustangs. Others claim that those who won't keep it as a garage queen will be prioritized. But these are all just speculations that have no official confirmation.

The all-new website, mustanggtd.com, informs potential customers that the purpose of the online application is to assist Ford Motor Company and its dealers in selecting the applicants who will have the opportunity to purchase the most powerful Mustang to ever roll off the production line.

If you haven't made up your mind just yet, you should hurry. The online application closes on May 20, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST. The application is now open for the United States and Canada. Customers from Europe, Mexico, and the Middle East will be able to file an application starting in June 2024.

Once you select the country you are from, the website gives you information on approximate pricing. It will start at around $325,000 for those residing in the US and $440,000 CDN for the Canadian clientele.

Ford announces that the model will go into production sometime in late 2024 or early 2025. Once you click all the right buttons to place an order, you are required to register by submitting an email address. After that final step, you will just have to wait for an email from Ford, inviting you to spec your Mustang GT.

How powerful is the most powerful Ford Mustang ever built?

FoMoCo unveiled the almighty GTD in August 2023, just in time for its 60th anniversary in 2024. The automaker will only manufacture around 1,000 examples, with production numbers expected to be between 300 and 700 cars per year. They will all see the light of day at Ford's assembly plant in Flat Rock, Michigan.

The model is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, which pumps out over 800 horsepower. Ford has never released the exact numbers of the output and torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle driving the rear wheels.

While we have already seen the aggressively styled exterior, Ford has yet to unveil photos of the interior.
