Some half a year after its official unveiling, the second-generation Skoda Kodiaq is now ready for sale in the United Kingdom. The Czech automaker has announced the pricing details before opening the order book on April 10.
But what exactly is a Skoda Kodiaq? It is the cousin of the latest-gen Volkswagen Tiguan. It uses the same underpinnings but is a bit larger. It comes with two trim levels and interior space for either five or seven occupants.
The lineup starts from £36,645 (equal to $46,305) with the entry-level SE (5-seat), which packs a 148 hp (150 ps/110 kW) 1.5-liter TSI e-TEC engine and a DSG gearbox. By comparison, the VW Tiguan kicks off at £34,075 ($43,055) in the UK and uses a 1.5L engine with 129 hp (131 ps/96 kW). From £38,945 ($49,210), the 2.0L TDI DSG becomes available, with an output identical to that of the gasoline burner but with more torque.
Standard gear includes 18-inch alloys, LED front and rear lighting units, a push-button start, a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, a 13-inch infotainment system, tri-zone climate control, and heated front seats. Choosing the SE variant of the 2024 Skoda Kodiaq will also bring customers a host of safety gear, such as the front assist with braking reaction to pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles, front cross traffic assist, and blind spot detection with door exit warning.
The third row of seats is available at an extra cost on the SE. Interested parties will have to pay £37,505 ($47,390) on-the-road for the seven-seater SE with the 1.5L TSI gasoline engine or £39,805 ($50,295) for the 2.0L TDI diesel. The specification is identical to the regular five-seater, yet ordering the seven-seater will also bring you a variable trunk floor at no extra cost.
Want to order the superior SE L grade? That would be £40,205 ($50,800) with the 1.5 TSI and £42,505 ($53,710) with the 2.0 TDI. Moreover, this variant is also available with a punchier diesel engine, which produces 190 hp (193 ps/142 kW) and starts at £46,225 ($58,410). Choosing this powertrain will also get you an all-wheel drive system, as the rest of the crossover's family comes with front-wheel drive.
On top of the normal SE, the 2024 Skoda Kodiaq SE L brings 19-inch wheels, LED Matrix adaptive headlights, an all-weather lighting system with cornering function, keyless entry, ecoSuite black design inside with perforated artificial and real leather upholstery, memory function for the driver's seat, and electric tailgate.
The Czech car manufacturer says the plug-in hybrid will launch later. It features a 25.7 kWh battery pack that supports 50 kW DC charging and 11 kW AC charging and promises a WLTP-rated range of up to 62 miles (100 km).
