Two of my all-time favorite off-grid living brands have finally gotten together and have unleashed a mobile living vehicle capable of self-sufficiency. This is the story of how Winnebago and EcoFlow are changing the RV game yet again!
You may have heard of Winnebago's Solis Pocket Class B campervan before, but now, the timeless brand has unveiled yet another layout for this adventure-ready machine, the 36B floorplan. However, the big ticket item here is that this new layout utilizes some of EcoFlow's best mobile living setup, the Power Kit Pro, which carries with it a 5-in-1 PMC (Power Management Controller) and a whopping 5 kWh battery with the ability to expand this setup far beyond that number.

Now, the new model is part of Winnebago's drive towards building more "sustainability-focused" vehicles, and with that, we can expect to see as much packed into this unit as possible. However, this is just an optional feature, so let's explore what the 36B can offer and then what it means to also include the Power Kit.

Overall, the Solis Pocket is designed around the idea of utter modularity or to be multi-functional. As for the 36B, future owners can look forwards to features like two dinette modes, travel mode, three different lounge options, and a heck of a whole lot more. It's even designed with the outdoor lover in mind, and can accommodate an outdoor cooking area, has countless storage options, and once you consider all the plumbing, cooling, and other comfort features, you can understand why the Solis Pocket lineup starts at around $140,400 (€125K at current exchange rates).

Before I go on, I invite you to really explore the images in the gallery. That way, you'll be able to get a better understanding of what we're in for with this new class. Why? Well, mainly because the exterior is one that barely hints at the magic found inside. Heck, would you ever think that eight distinctive layouts would be possible inside? All that's made possible by the presence of a highly modular dinette area.

For example, I mentioned that two dinette versions are accessible, one for two guests and one for four. However, by moving around the cushions a bit, an additional two seats are made available for on-road travel. As for sleeping, either a one-person or two-person sleeping arrangement can be accessed. If that's not enough, four different lounge options are available.

But what is the result of such a modular space? Well, it allows Winnebago to free up a whole bunch of room within the unit and use it to give rise to a galley, plenty of storage, and above all, a wet bath, a feature that isn't always present in a campervan, however, with some small differences; the toilet is removable, and the space can also be used as a mudroom. Internal water tanks ensure that water doesn't freeze, leading to "extended-season capability."

Now, the moment we take into consideration the Power Kit and what it brings to the table, the Pocket unveils a whole new level of functionality. How? Well, think about what you can do with a battery bank that has a whopping 5 kWh of power. Best of all, due to its reduced size, once it's neatly integrated into the Pocket, you'll still have plenty of space to bring along all your needed goodies.

I also mentioned that this system is a 5-in-1, and that means quite a whole lot for you and future 36B owners. Functions of an inverter, shore power converter, battery converter, solar converter, and energy optimizer at all at your fingertips and manageable from the touch display. What are the benefits of something like this?

Well, let's start with the ability to crank out 3,600 W of power, suitable for running multiple appliances at once, shore-power charging times reduced by 50% (compared to standard systems), and 40% faster lithium house battery recharging. Do I need to mention that you can now run everything inside your unit on nothing other than electricity? If you're looking for more savings, grab a pair of solar panels. If you don't want panels, don't worry; up to three days of off-grid living is possible with the 5 kWh battery but in optimum test conditions.

Now, I want you to take a minute wherever you are, even if in the good old throne room, and picture your life in a self-sustaining Solis Pocket 36B. Remember, this is an option, so you'll have to dish out some extra bucks for this worry-free lifestyle, but once you do, especially with some solar panels in place, you'll be able to really stay out there in the wild for as long as you have food and water. Maybe you're good with traps and all that, in which case, all the more reason to dive deeper into the 36B.

But what does this mean for future owners of anything other than a Solis Pocket? Well, if things take off right, and future Pocket owners race the wonders of EcoFlow, as I have in the past, then you can be sure that Winnebago will consider dropping this setup into other units, and that's good news all around.
