As you may already by now, the date Marty McFly and the Doc should show up in a DeLorean time machine is two weeks from the moment of writing this. Three days later, the BMW 6 Series character Griff Tannen was driving will go under the hammer.
In case you’re one of our regular visitors, you may recall the piece we did the other day about this exciting piece of BMW-illness. It’s being offered as a “one-of-a-kind BMW that was custom built by the production team.” It may be a tuned contraption, but it’s also an ugly piece of sorcery. Luckily, though, it has been upgraded a couple of levels from the wrecked vehicle it used to be when the crew shot the Back To The Future 2 scenes.

More precisely, the car was restored with new paint and interior in 2004. All fiberglass hover conversion bits were repainted with new Mag-Lev Hover Conversion Systems stickers placed where needed. Moreover, two tires have been replaced as the originals were dry-rotted. Since the original was missing a back deck, a new one has been installed. Believe it or not, the car is running again as it never ran during production.

Aside the BMW itself, the highest bidder will also go home with the proper related memorabilia. Here are further details from the auction house in charge of the sale:

“The broken taillight lens is assumed to be original as it was found in the trunk of the car. As seen in the movie, Griff breaks it with his baseball bat when swinging at Marty. The taillights are not wired as they are not original for the BMW 6-series, they are from a 1983 BMW 320i as they are much cheaper to replace during production for numerous takes. The car is currently located in Connecticut, and the buyer is responsible for transportation costs. The current owner will assist with the auto transport company of your selection. Please inquire if you have further questions.

The starting price is $10,000, but if you were to ask this editor, it should sell for a lot more than that.
