What If Back To The Future Time Machine Was a Modified Lamborghini Countach?

Perhaps the DeLorean DMC-12 would have been just another obscure model if the Back To The Future movies never existed in the first place. In fact, us, petrolheads, we all know that great movies can create a culture around cars that otherwise don’t have much in common with great machinery. What if Marty McFly and Doc would have traveled through time with a modified Lamborghini Countach instead?

This seems to be the question the creator of this scale model Back To The Future time machine is asking, considering his creation is based on a Lamborghini Countach. In real life, 2,049 units were produced from 1974 to 1990, and the mid-engined, V12 sportscar remains a wonderful vehicle even today. Aside from its design, the Ranging Bull has something else in common with the DeLorean DMC-12. Can you guess what?

No, we’re obviously not talking about performance. We’re hinting at how these machines have raised to worldwide fame. While the DeLorean had one of the greatest Science-Fiction movies of all times on its side, the Lambo is often associated with the Miami Vice television series. We’re not trying to step on a mined land of comparisons, but we trust it’s safe to assume the DMC-12 is not a Countach.

Before you go further with our question and start thinking of a proper answer, we find ourselves obliged to detail how we found this diecast.

The Lamborghini Countach Time Machine scale model was a one-of-a-kind creation presented at this year’s Shizuoka Hobby Show, an annual hobby event held in Japan. Think of it as SEMA but for plastic models, diecast cars and radio control vehicles.

According Speed Hunters, the one in question was not the only Back To The Future model on display. However, it’s one that represents a vision of what might have happened if Doc Brown decided to build his time machine out of a Lamborghini Countach rather than a DeLorean DMC-12.
