Ford’s F-Series Super Duty trucks find themselves among some of the most capable off-road vehicles in the world, and they’ve been playing the “game” for a long time now. Technically, the first-generation F-Series Super Duty went into production back in January of 1998, while last year saw the introduction of the fifth-generation models.
As of 2016, the Super Duty has been trailblazing roads all over the world, from North America to South America, Africa, the Middle East, and even Europe, where the F-350 is available for purchase in Iceland. Who knew, right?
Meanwhile, U.S. buyers can currently choose from a wide range of all-new F-Series Super Duty specifications (F-250, F-350, F-450), with prices starting from $44,970 for the entry-level F-250 XL variant. But what if you’re after something a little bit different? What if, say, you’d like to see what happens if an older F-250 ever had a baby with a Raptor.
Well, it would probably look a lot like this customized 2016 F-250 Super Duty Lariat 4x4 truck, up for grabs to the highest bidder through Doug DeMuro’s Cars & Bids platform.
Before we get into the mods, let’s talk factory equipment first. There’s the Lariat Ultimate Package (sat-nav, power-sliding moonroof, Memory Group, remote engine starter, tailgate step, heated and cooled front seats), the Chrome package, leather and power-adjustable front seats, a power-sliding rear window, air conditioning, Ford’s SYNC infotainment system, a rear-view camera (now that’s a vital feature in a pickup truck), Hill-Start Assist, the Trailer Brake Controller and Trailer Sway Control technology.
In terms of mechanical bits, here’s what’s new: the S&B cold-air intake system, 4.56-ratio front and rear gear kit, electric locking rear differential, and the Banks Power rear differential cover. Also new are the 20-inch wheels with 40-inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires, the King Shocks coilovers and dual steering stabilizer bars, and the Superlift suspension lift kit.
Visually, this F-250 comes with the MegaRexx Trucks MegaRaptor body kit, an aftermarket grille, custom front bumper with new lights, tinted windows, custom power-operated side steps with LED lighting, a heavy-duty tubular rear bumper, and a 6.7L Scorpion emblem on the tailgate for good measure – this emblem can also be found on the steering wheel.
Speaking of the steering wheel, that custom emblem is pretty much the only noticeable “mod” inside this truck. To be fair, I’m not sure what the heck is going on with those vent surrounds. Are they just overly reflective, or do they have some type of camo pattern?
Anyway, let’s conclude by talking about the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 that powers this truck. It’s putting down 440 horsepower and 860 lb-ft (1,166 Nm) of torque, with everything going to either the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
As you can undoubtedly gather, that’s a lot of pulling power. In fact, the only types of vehicles that pack more torque than this F-250 are the likes of the Bugatti Chiron (and other comparable hypercars like the Koenigsegg Jesko or the Hennessey Venom F1), and various flagship-spec EVs like the Tesla Model S Plaid, or the Rimac Nevera.
