When You Insist on Making a Lemonade, Life Eventually Gives You Lemons

We're used to blaming fate, karma, God or everybody around us for the bad things that happen to us, even though sometimes, the only thing that's really at fault is our reluctance to use our brains.
Either that, or a complete lack of surviving instinct, as this incident in the video below clearly proves. This is a classic case of "if you want to win the raffle, you've got to buy a ticket first," only this time it's more like "if you want to stay alive, you might want to slow down and pull the steering wheel to the right a little."

We all hate bullies, and the traffic isn't free of this hateful species of human beings. Usually, they're found in big trucks or SUVs, but driving a smaller car isn't going to be enough to hide their questionable morals, so don't be surprised if you find them in green Volkswagen Polos as well.

As I've said before, it's a known fact that a lot of people feel empowered by driving a car, so their personality traits get augmented. For bullies, that means all the more occasions to drive as if all the other cars on the roads don't matter. For some, though, being behind the wheel turns them into vigilantes, the Mother-Goose type of individual that feels it is his duty to prove others how wrong they are, hoping they will finally see the light and give up on their bad habits.

It pains me to say that I'm one of the latter. Nothing good has ever come out of this behavior, but I guess I won't stop until something really bad will. However, even I think that the driver filming this whole incident is a complete idiot.

There are certain occasions when the desire to make the world a better place must take a back seat and allow the will to still be able to enjoy this world as it is the next day to dictate your actions. So that guy is overtaking without showing the least amount of consideration for your safety. What do you do? Make it even more dangerous, of course, by not showing any signs of slowing down or trying to make room for him. Well, if you insist, then there are your lemons, I hope you're happy now.

It's called "defensive driving" and it's nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, it's how the best drivers in this world behave on the road. You're not there to prove anything; you're only trying to get from one place to another in one piece, and maybe even have some fun doing it. Whenever there's even a remote chance of something dangerous to happen, make sure you're ready to take the adequate evasive measures. And, just in case it wasn't clear, this last paragraph was for me. Maybe if I say it often enough, I will actually start to listen to myself.

The two drivers involved got off easy, considering the circumstances. Even grazing a car at that speed can have very nasty results, but in spite of their lack of trying, they were lucky. Take a look at this and try not to yell "brake, BRAKE, BRAKE, YOU IDIOT!!!" at the screen.
