The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a monster of a muscle car that was bred for the sole purpose of carving up any track, but even in the hands of the most talented drivers, the car’s raw power can magnify small mistakes. Such is the case with this Z/28 that crashed during a recent race at Road America.
We get a firsthand look at the scary ordeal thanks to a pair of cameras, and from what we can tell, the Z/28’s massive rear tires lost grip as the car was coming out of a tight right-hander causing the racecar to fishtail out of control making hard contact with the concrete barrier.

The most important thing of this incident is that the driver walked away unscathed once the track emergency personal arrived, but the same can’t be said for the car, which had an awful noise emanating from under the hood immediately after the front end hit the wall. We can’t even imagine what made contact with the LS7 V-8 for it to make that noise.

Now, we’re definitely not here to poke fun at the driver who now has some costly repairs bills in his immediate future, but what is rather entertaining is the response from the OnStar adviser offering to call 911. Of all the things we imagine the OnStar advisors hear when calling drivers after a crash was detected, “I’m at a race track” probably isn’t one of them.

For its part, OnStar is pretty impressive in that the Automatic Crash Response starts initiates the phone call before the car has even come to a full stop.

The whole ordeal says a lot about the all-new Camaro Z/28 in terms of its safety since what is essentially a showroom-fresh Camaro taking on full racing duty with only safety modifications required. Check out the pair of videos that show the unfortunate crash from two different angles.
