3,500 HP Camaro Dragstrip Testing Goes Terribly Wrong

Dragstrip accidents are not uncommon, especially when we're talking about quarter-mile monsters that pack four-figure horsepower ratings. And unfortunately some of those crashed have resulted in casualties.
Luckily enough, Australian driver Gary Philips was safely removed from his vehicle after the collision you're about to see below, but the brand new "Top Doorslammer" Camaro he was driving was virtually destroyed. A case of "bad day for science" for Philips, who brought his new machine for testing at the Sydney Dragway.

Things went wrong for him right after the start, when the Camaro went off leaning to one side, which eventually sent the 3,500 HP-powered dragster into the guardrail, richocheting two more times after the parachute was deployed.

While Philips complained only of pain in his right arm, the crashed Camaro will most certainly require a great deal of work. If it can be repaired that is...
