Created to run quarter miles with tons of horsepower at the rear wheels, the COPO Camaro factory racers aren’t safe from crashes that may occur due to driver error of malfunctions. Being limited to only 69 units each year, we’d like them to be safe and sound after each pass, but, unfortunately, it’s not always the case.
The crash you’re about to see below happened during the 2013 World Cup Finals at Maryland International Raceway, when local racer Paul Barham hit the concrete barrier after launching with a spectacular wheelstand. Fortunately enough, the impact caused little damage to the black 2012 COPO Camaro and Barham should have it fixed in no time.
Speaking of COPO Camaro, the 2014 model year version was unveiled at the 2013 SEMA Show earlier this year with a revised all-motor 427, the musclecar’s new front and rear ends and Chevrolet racing components.
