Want to Fly? This Bird Simulator Will Give You Wings

From the beginning, the man pointed to the sky and said he wants to be like the birds flying above. Many then tried building artificial wings to do that but failed and only when hot air balloons came by, the man could travel above ground.
Planes came by and the man forgot about flying like a simple bird, until it got bored and tried that again... using jetpacks. However, that’s not cheap and the man needs a lot of training to stay about 30 seconds above ground. Not to mention how dangerous it is.

There are alternatives though, like a flight suit, with wings and even with jet engines, but that requires a plane to jump from and even that way you won’t feel like a bird. Unless you try the bird simulator made by the University of Zurich in partnership with the Design and Research Institute Ide.

It’s called Birdly and it resembles a massage table fitted with a fan and some hydraulic pistons. That’s because you have to lay on it, face forward, strap yourself to the arm controls and put on a pair of Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles to see the world like a hawk.

From here, all you need to do is flap you arms and enjoy the ride. Oh, it even emits smells to aid with the immersion.
