For this year’s edition of the SEMA, VW of America wants to write “downsizing” all over its moves. The German carmaker’s scheme starts with a customized Jetta sedan powered by its new turbocharged 1.8-liter TSI engine, which replaces the 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the US.
We’ll start with the Helios Special Edition Jetta GLI Tribute, which, as its designations tells us, is inspired from the Helios Special Edition of the late 80s. In terms of details, this is especially translated into 80s-flavored interior details, ranging front the Recaro seats to the gear shifter.
However, this is just a part of the deal, as the Jetta features an exterior kit designed by VW, as well as 19-inch VW Motorsports wheels using Nitto Invo 235/35 rubber, as well as Golf R brake calipers.
As for the tech data, all we know at this point is that the vehicle is powered by VW’s new 1.8-liter turbocharged third-generation EA888 four-cylinder engine.
