When Volvo introduced its Concept Estate at the Geneva Motor Show last year, we were all left lusting for the styling details of the Swedish shooting brake. Fast forward to next year's Geneva event, we'll get to see the brand introducing the family man's version of the just-launched S90, namely the V90.
While the V90 will land on American soil, the version that's really keeping us on our toes is the Polestar-massaged one.
How did we get from falling in love with a shooting brake to eagerly awaiting what will probably be a performance hybrid Volvo?
Even if you're not a big fan of station wagons or hybrids, understanding Volvo's new philosophy will make you develop a soft spot for the Polestar V90.
We'll start with the gasoline-electric part. When Volvo's current flagship, the seven-seater XC90 SUV, comes in four-cylinder guise only and has a range-topping hybrid model, you know these Swedes are serious about keeping that polar ice cap from melting.
So why not let Polestar show us what happens when the development Volvo is most proud of, their 407 hp T8 hybrid powertrain, is tuned for going fast?
Then there's the wagon part - with its boxy estates, Volvo has seriously contributed to defining the identity of the segment. So we can only be happy to see the big trunk version of the S90 coming to the world.
