The fuss about Volvo being taken over by Chinese carmaker Geely is now over and the Swedish carmaker is focusing on developing new models that will allow it to live its new life. One of these models is a luxury coupe, which would be slotted above the C70.
The coupe, which should use the C90 designation, will compete with cars like the Mercedes E-Class Coupe and, if the project gets the green light, will also spawn a convertible model, destined to strengthen its position on the US market.
The vehicle should use the next S60 as a starting point (to be more specific, it will be underpinned by the Swedish carmaker’s Scalable Platform Architecture) and, again, if it gets the approval, is expected to arrive on the market in 2015 or later.
