Today is the big day for Volkswagen Beetle fans, who are waiting for a revival of the iconic German car (other than the one current on the market, a failure according to the majority of the Beetle fans). Today, April 18, the Germans from Volkswagen will be pulling the wraps off their newest creation (in fact, there are doing it as we are writing these lines).

Until the entire set of photos and countless specs flood the Internet, the first images showing the model have been leaked, shedding some light on the model for those impatient enough to wait another hour or too busy to watch the live unveiling of the model.

And since we've made it our habit to at least try to bring you the latest news from the industry “as it happens,” instead of waiting for the show to go down, here are the first images showing the first Beetle, courtesy of Volkswagen and countless wwws.

As for the details surrounding the model, we only tell you a few things, just to keep your interest up until the entire you know what hits the proverbial fan. The new Beetle has changed its dimensions, retained, as you can see for yourselves, the general lines of the current generation and added a very comprehensive line of engines.

And since we know most of you are suckers for numbers and letters that spell power and success, here's a few to get your hearts pumping: 140 Bhp TDI common rail Turbo, 200 bhp 2l turbo (Scirocco sourced), 6 speed manual and 6 speed DSG automatic gearbox and XDS differential.

Stay with us for more, as the Beetle will be revealed, inside and out, later today.
