Bugatti and Rimac hypercars will reach the US via Volkswagen Group of America. The group has just signed an exclusive import and distribution deal with the two brands.
French-registered, wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group since its foundation in 1998, Bugatti came to life as part of the German conglomerate. That was until July 2021, when it was announced that Bugatti and Rimac will merge to form Bugatti Rimac, a joint venture between Rimac Group and Porsche AG. The move should result in cost reductions for both companies.

Today, Rimac Group is the majority shareholder with a 55% stake in Bugatti Rimac, while Porsche AG holds the remaining 45%, plus a 24% stake in Rimac Group.

From now on, based on the deal, Volkswagen Group of America will be importing and distributing both Bugatti- and Rimac-branded models. The agreement was signed during Monterey Car Week but kept under wraps until all the details were completed.

Bugatti is the 114-year-old luxury brand, the only one to produce a 16-cylinder internal combustion engine. Meanwhile, Rimac stands as a pioneer of the electric hypercar segment.

The move will see Sascha Doering, COO of Bugatti America, expanding his role to include the Rimac brand.

The Molsheim-based brand Bugatti is currently selling the Chiron, the Centodieci, the track-only Bolide, and the Mistral.

The Chiron comes in several variations, with the most potent of them, the Chiron Super Sport and Super Sport 300+, going as far as 1,578 horsepower (1,600 PS). The starting price for this hypercar is of $3 million.

Rated at $8.8 million, the super-limited Centodieici, with only ten examples built, is just as powerful as the range-topping Chirons, with which it shares its underpinnings.

The track-only Bugatti Bolide sports the same numbers, even though the concept that previewed the model came with 1,825 horsepower (1,850 PS). All 40 slots have been filled.

With the same numbers as its Bugatti siblings, the Mistral roadster is the fastest roadster in the world. Bugatti built 55 units, and all of them were pre-sold, despite the eye-watering price of $5 million.

The Croatian automotive manufacturer Rimac is selling the Nevera, based on the Concept Two from 2016 and introduced two years later at the Geneva Motor Show. With a body made entirely of carbon fiber, the hypercar is powered by four electric motors, each engaging a wheel, generating together a total of 1,914 horsepower (1,940 PS) and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque, pulling a weight of 4,740 pounds (2,150 kilograms).

Rimac claims that the model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in just 1.85 seconds and hit a top speed of 258 mph (415 kph). Each of the 150 units that Rimac is building starts at $2 million before options.
