Vauxhall Corsa VXR Blue Revealed, Pricing Announced

Following the old saying ‘strike the iron while it's hot’, Vauxhall has launched the Corsa VXR Blue edition adding a classy performance model of the new-look (facelift) Corsa range. The package includes some cosmetic changes, a new paintjob and additional kit as standard.

The Blue edition’s main selling point is the special Arden Blue metallic paint. It’s not something to write home about, but it should be enough to satisfy most die-had VXR fans. Also added is a set of 18-inch alloys, so you don’t have to switch them to aftermarket ones. dark-tinted glass, bespoke interior air vents and Recaro seats complete the list of design changes. It’s by no means a revolutionary change, but you can expect to save £445 compared to the price of a ‘standard’ Corsa VXR with this kit added on top.

Like the rest of the range, the Corsa VXR Blue gets the new ‘eagle-eye’ headlights, but adds a blue bar across the grille. Just like the regular VXR, it also gets those sexy foglights, a more aggressive front bumper, small rear wing and the center-exit exhaust. But the Blue edition adds blue stitching to the leather steering wheel, blue air vents and blue trim on the Recaro seats. It also comes with lowered sports suspension, uprated brakes and switchable ESP.

While the Corsa VXR is a little old now, but its performance is nothing to be ashamed about. Power comes from a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine that delivers 192 PS (141 kW; 189 hp) at 5850 rpm, and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque between 1980-5800 rpm. This is enough for a 0-60mph (98 km/h) time of just 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h).

It is available now at a price of £19,425 (including 20% VAT) in the UK, and should arrive at dealers in late February.
