You know you’re a terrible, horrible driver and / or a very unlucky human being when you’re supposed to be transporting a gazillion dollars worth of drugs and you crash into parked cars. Police cruisers, no less.
It happened in Sydney, Australia, earlier this week, CNN confirms. A Toyota HiAce van crashed into police cars parked outside the Eastwood Police Station and then fled the scene. As it turns out, the driver had every reason to want to get out of there as soon as possible, as the van was literally packed with drugs.

Sadly for him, he didn’t get very far: about an hour after the hit and run, police stopped a banged-up van in a nearby suburb, the report says. It turned out to be the same car that rammed into the parked police cruisers and, to boot, it was carrying a lot of meth.

To be specific, the van had “$140 million methamphetamine haul hidden in boxes.” The driver was identified as 28-year-old Simon Tu and he was charged both for the drugs and for driving like a madman.

“Police found removal boxes that contained 273 kilograms (600 pounds) of methamphetamine,” CNN says. “Police estimated that the drugs had a street value of over 200 million Australian dollars - or $140 million in US dollars.”

“The man has been charged with large commercial drug supply and negligent driving. Police are also conducting a forensic examination of the van,” the same report adds.

Tu was denied bail and will remain in custody until his trial. On a lighter note, if he’s found guilty, he will have plenty of time to think of a different line one work, preferably one that involves neither driving nor transportation of illegal substances. Because he sucks at both.

No police officer or civilian was hurt in the initial crash, which led to the impressive drug bust.
