Unofficial 2009 Honda Insight Information

Information regarding the 2009 Honda Insight model which is actually set to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show opening its doors on January 11 has just reached the web in what seems to be an unofficial and hard to believe leakage. According to the details published by Insightman, none of these details are confirmed for the Japanese or United States market, but this is exactly what was mentioned in a “production preview meeting for Honda dealers in Japan.” According to the aforementioned source, Honda Insight will come in three trim levels, as it follows: “the basic G (customarily labeled DX in the U.S.), L (ie. LX) and the top-of-the-line LS (ie. EX),” as Insightman reported. All versions come with an impressive line-up of standard features, including air conditioning, tinted rear windows, remote-controlled body-colored external mirrors and Honda's Ecological Drive Assist System. A number of options are also available, such as navigation system with 7-inch display, Honda's Smart Key system or side-curtain airbags. Insightman has also published various dimensions of the upcoming Insight but again, none of these is confirmed so you shouldn't take them too seriously. On the other hand, a Honda fansite called Temple of Vtec published a Japanese market model brochure of the Insight hybrid which gives us a hint about what the upcoming model has to offer. The interior looks pretty much the same with the one brought by the Paris Show concept model while the exterior has been slightly upgraded with minor front and rear modifications. Although you shouldn't trust them, here are the equipment levels published by Insightman: L model:
- high-intensity discharge headlights with auto light control
- turn signals in the external mirrors
- leather steering wheel
- rear speakers
- front/rear arm rests
- variable-speed windshield wiper
- map light and luggage-area light
- driver's seat back pocket

LS model:

- 16-inch aluminum wheels
- Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA)
- front fog lights
- 7-speed paddle shifters
- sun-shade tinted windshield

Body color options:

- Spectrum while pearl (also a Civic hybrid color)
- Milano red (also a Fit color)
- Premium deep violet pearl (also a Jazz color, but not a US Honda color)
- Crystal black pearl (also an Accord, Civic, and Fit color)
- Polished metal metallic (also an Accord and Civic color)
- Alabaster silver metallic (also an Accord and Civic color)
- Brilliant sky metallic (also a Jazz color, but not a US Honda color)
