Toyota NASCAR driver Kurt Busch had its car running perfectly at Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 race held on Sonoma Raceway, but it was the luck that wasn’t on its side.
He finished fourth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup despite penalties that made him fall behind one lap.
Starting the race in seventh, Busch took lead on lap 19 and kept it for 15 more when he soon had to enter his first pit stop and he was so ambitious to remember the pit lane speed limit. So he got busted and received a drive-through penalty.
He served the penalty on the next lap, but again, something went wrong with the onboard instrumentation and he was caught speeding again, this time having to perform a stop-and-go penalty. This one put him a lap behind the leader down on 38th place.
But that didn’t stop him to push the loud pedal and gain an impressive fourth place at the end, judging by his position after the penalties.
