The new ultra-efficient Ford Fiesta Van makes its debut at the Birmingham Commercial Vehicles Show. It features the well known 1.6-liter diesel engine used by a variety of models and in this spec it produces 95 hp, with its ECO credentials boosted by its different gear ratios which are optimized for maximum efficiency.
In response to the Fiat Punto Van, which was also unveiled at the same venue, the Fiesta features a Stop-Start system as standard. The manufacturer claims that this reduces CO2 emissions from 95 to 87 g/km and also helps the Fiesta Van achieve its combined economy figure of 86.5 mpg (3.3 l/100km) - best in class.
Other Ford ECOnetic innovations made their way into the van as well . Worth mentioning are the Smart Regenerative Charging, ECO mode and an optimal shift indicator. Low rolling resistance tires, lowered suspension and various aerodynamic tweaks all add up to make it realistically achieve its claimed economy figures.
