The Renault 5 Turbo, or R5 Turbo is a really exciting car. It is small, very light and with over 100 hp, it is extremely nippy, even in standard trim. However, the French have created an entire subculture for modifying the R5 Turbo, and some examples are pushed as high as 400 hp, while still having only the front wheels driven.
In this video, two examples, with power outputs in excess of 200 hp have fun on a long stretch of French highway, trying out rolling start drag races, from different gears and at different speeds. Now, while it may be somewhat dangerous, and we don`t really condone such driving behaviour, the video is still well worth watching, as we have thoroughly enjoyed watching it, and we`re sure you will too.
There are not that many details about the cars in the video, but they have most likely retained the standard 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, yet it has been modified substantially to get the 200+ hp rating.
