The Twizy, Renault’s electric city vehicle that’s classified as a quadricycle has registered impressive sales, pleasing both customers and its creators, but the overall sales of Renault’s ZE electric car range are still disappointing.
For example, the UK sales data for a five-month period shows that the Twizy found 252 owners, while the Fluence ZE only registered sales of 64 units. However, the Kangoo ZE light commercial vehicle’s sales sit at 279 units, as it caters to the needs of delivery companies that operate in crowded urban areas. The situation for the whole European market it similar: the Twizy proved to be a big hit, but Renault isn’t please with the overall volume for the ZE range.

However, the automaker is preparing to throw a new asset on the market, the ZOE EV hatchback. Just like the Twizy, this has been created from the ground up as an electric machine and thus is more suitable for its job.

The Renault Zoe is scheduled to go on sale early next year and Renault has high hopes for it, promising us the same level of driving fun that allowed the Twizy to sell so well, but with a much bigger range.
