Following yesterday’s preview, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) US has just reported its August 2013 sales, posting 231,537 vehicles delivered to its customers.
The given number represents an increase of 18.4 percent over August 2012 on a daily selling rate basis. Moreover, on a raw-volume basis, unadjusted for 28 selling days in August 2013 compared to 27 selling days in August 2012, TMS registered a 22.8 percent sales increase compared to the year-ago same period.

Toyota Division alone (excluding Lexus) posted August 2013 sales of 201,745 units, marking its best month in more than five years.

“The auto industry continues to be a bright spot in the economic recovery,” said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager.  “August capped a great summer for new vehicle sales, and it was Toyota's best month in more than five years."

Giving a close look at the numbers, the Toyota Camry model is still the best-selling car in America, with sales of nearly 45,000 units in the last month, followed by the Prius with a 30 percent sales increase. Also, the Avalon posted triple-digit gains for six consecutive months in a row while the Sienna model sales went up 23 percent.

In truck and SUV section, the Tacoma leads the pickup sales with a 25 percent increase, while the new RAV4 ramped up the sales by 50%.
