In order to make younger generations attracted to using the bus a South Wales, UK company developed an advertising campaign that turned out to be rather intriguing. Pictures with topless males and females holding boards that promote the cost of the firm’s daily tickets were wrapped on the coaches. As expected, negative responses were almost immediately sent by passers-by who saw the pictures, a reaction that led to the removal of the pictures effective immediately.
They wanted to attract the youngsters' attention and they sure did since half naked men and women were seen on the X1 cross-city route in Cardiff today by quite a lot of people. The problem is, they also attracted an angry response on social media too, as more and more motorists and pedestrians would post pictures with the images and send messages to the company.

The marketing campaign was supposed to mark the launch of the new ten-bus route that connects Pontprennau and Culverhouse Cross via the city center. Things got even worse when the new Cardiff Central Labour MP Jo Stevens said on Twitter: “Please can you explain how your advert is in any way appropriate?”.

Naturally, a bunch of adverse reactions, formal and informal, followed which led to the company’s decision to take them all down.

The slogan of ‘ride me all day for £3’ whilst being a little tongue in cheek was in no way intended to cause offense to either men or women and, if the advert has done so then we apologize unreservedly. There has certainly been no intention to objectify either men or women,” New Adventure Travel said in a statement earlier today.

The company’s representative added that the pictures from the back of the busses will be removed within the next twenty-four hours.
