Ever since it’s been founded back in 2009, Spain’s Thor Cycles stacked up a plethora of custom two-wheelers that’ll make just about any moto-loving gearhead weak at the knees. Needless to say, the Seville-based enterprise hosts some remarkable talent under its roof, and the project we’ll be examining today is a genuine testament to that claim.
This bad boy revolves around a 1999 variant of Ducati’s 900SS family. The donor bike is put in motion by an air-cooled L-twin powerplant that boasts a generous displacement of 904 cc. At 7,500 rpm, this piece of Italian machinery will happily summon up to 80 ponies, while a respectable 57 pound-feet (77 Nm) of twisting force will be generated at approximately 6,500 rpm.
A six-speed transmission feeds the engine’s sheer power to the rear 17-inch wheel via a chain final drive, leading to a whopping top speed of 143 mph (230 kph). Additionally, the 900SS is perfectly capable of running the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds at 119 mph (192 kph). Without going into any other details, it’s quite safe to conclude that Ducati’s fiend is the real deal.
Thor Cycles’ moto gurus kicked things off by fabricating a fresh subframe, which supports a wasp-style tail section and an aftermarket leather saddle that keeps things looking seriously rad, as well as a hand-crafted aluminum license plate holder. Next, the bike’s L-twin mill was treated to a comprehensive rebuild, receiving new bearings, K&N air filters, and a top-shelf clutch module.
The following step consisted of outsourcing a Ducati GT1000’s laced hoops to replace the stock units. These bad boys wear state-of-the-art Brembo brakes, while their rims are hugged tightly by high-performance Battlax tires from Bridgestone’s range.
